One i have learned to love.

I didn’t like this plant bowl, when I unloaded the kiln. It didn’t look the way I had imagined. It should have been read with a chrystal pattern over. Any way, one day I was missing at plant bowl and I found this one. After a couple of days, I started to like it.

I glazed the bowl this way.

First I put a piece of masking tape around as a belt. Then I dipped the bowl in Scarvas Nano Crimson red. When the glaze was dry, I removed the masking tape and dipped it in Chrystal white ( Cerama 1310), just a thin layer. I hoped it would have made chrystal effect above that very monochromatic red – but I think the chrystal white glaze seemed more like an effect generator.

A surprise

I have two mugs with sand with effekt (glaze 42008 from Silicanordic) on the inside and nephrite green (glaze 42312 from Silicanordic) on the outside. I was not satisfied with the inner glaze, and gave the mugs a round of effect generator on the inside, but nothing at the outside. I refired one of the two mugs, but 10 degrees lower than the first firing ( first 1240, second 1230) What a change in the expression of the glaze on the outside!

Ther was no room for the second mug in this firing, so now I’m exited to see, if it will change the character of the outer glaze like the first mug. I have to wait at coupple of weeks!

two mugs after the first firing at 1240 degrees.

After refiring at 1230 degrees.

Beautiful brush glaze

A serving bowl in lowly warm colors. The bowl is mad in a smooth light clay (silicanordic 208). The inside glaze is sand with effect (dipping glaze 42008 from Silicanordic) and the outside is glazed with 3 layer travertin brush glaze (Botz 9899). I think it would have been ok with only 2 layers og the brush glaze. On the upper edge, the two colors make som very beautiful colors together.

Green beauty

This bowl is made in light clay with spots. It is about 9 cm tall and the diameter is about 15 cm. It is a serving bowl for salad. On the inside it is glazed with at thick layer of copper green ( Cerama1373) and it is the same glaze on the outside but only at thin layer. It is fired at 1230 degrees with at 30 minuts hold.

The black clay

I throw som white mugs, and when the mugs were leather hard, i put a handle on the mugs and then I added some shapes made in thin black clay. The black clay can be seen through the colored glaze even though the glaze alså covers the shapes.
